Winner: Hawaiian Springs (Hawaiian Springs Water).

What Jonathan decided

Hawaiian Springs = WINNER (advances to round three; "such a good water", he would stock his fridge with it); Smeraldina = tied 2nd ("really good one", double thumbs up, reminds him of Starkey); Fjord (Norway) = tied 2nd ("very good one, very hydrating", rich texture); Meijer = eliminated (tastes like standard Niagara/Nestle, "really bad", "really awful", plasticky, thumbs down); Our Family Spring Water = named in title but no distinct tasting segment in captions, eliminated

Fjord

Hawaiian Springs won this round so convincingly that Jonathan said he would stock his fridge with it. Fjord tied Smeraldina for second, and he gave it a double thumbs up, calling it a really good one. Meijer finished last with a thumbs down.

About Fjord

Fjord is a natural mineral water from Fyresdal, Telemark, Norway, founded in 2014. The source sits in one of Norway's most ecologically clean areas, with water at 8 degrees Celsius year-round. It has among the lowest mineral content in bottled water, about 13 mg per liter, giving it a soft, gentle, slightly sweet taste.

Hawaiian Springs (Hawaiian Springs Water)

This is the big one. Hawaiian Springs won the whole tournament, beating Starkey and Table Rock in the final at #9000. Along the way it beat Smeraldina, Fjord, and Meijer in #8336 (I said I would stock my fridge with it), beat Anheuser Busch in the round 3 bracket, and edged out Tru Alka for the final three because it tasted "a little bit better, a little cleaner, a little bit more pure." Then in #10000 I named it my favorite water of all time after reviewing thousands of waters. What a run.

About Hawaiian Springs (Hawaiian Springs Water)

Hawaiian Springs comes from the Kea'au aquifer at the base of Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii, where rain filters through 13,000 feet of lava rock. They have been bottling since 1995. It is naturally alkaline at about pH 7.7, high in calcium, magnesium, and silica, with a crisp, clean, slightly sweet taste. It is Hawaii's first and only natural artesian water, locally owned and operated by Native Hawaiians, and they even matched my $2,500 donation to Charity: Water for the #10000 milestone.

Meijer Drinking Water

Hawaiian Springs won this round and I would stock my fridge with it. Meijer got eliminated, and I did not hold back: it tastes like standard Niagara or Nestle, really bad, really awful, plasticky. Thumbs down.

About Meijer Drinking Water

Meijer is the Michigan-based family-owned grocery supercenter chain, 250+ stores across six Midwest states, selling store-brand purified, distilled, and spring waters. Note: in late 2025 Meijer recalled about 38,000 gallons of its steam distilled water over a black foreign substance (FDA Class III, no illnesses), a separate product from this one.

Our Family Spring

In #8332 it finished third as "Our Family Drinking Water" with a thumbs down for plastic jug taste. In #8336 it was listed in the lineup against Hawaiian Springs, but the record is unclear on how it actually tasted in that video, since there was no distinct tasting segment for it. Either way, it did not advance.

About Our Family Spring

Our Family is the private-label brand of SpartanNash of Grand Rapids, Michigan: "Quality since 1904," about 2,000 items across grocery aisles, the core private label for their corporate stores in 9 states and 2,100 independent grocers. It carries a Satisfaction Plus Guarantee, and the brand spokesperson is Paralympic triathlete Melissa Stockwell.

Smeraldina

This was a great round. Hawaiian Springs won and moved to round 3, a water he said he would stock his fridge with. Smeraldina tied for second with Fjord: a really good one, double thumbs up, and it reminded him of Starkey.

About Smeraldina

Smeraldina, the Legendary Water of Sardinia, has been bottled since 1985 from an artesian aquifer nearly 1,000 feet deep under the Monti di Deu. It was named Best Water in the World at the 2023 Berkeley Springs tasting.
