What Jonathan decided

winner = Hawaiian Springs Water; runner-up = Starkey Spring Water; 3rd = Table Rock Springs Water (eliminated first: tiny microscopic plasticky taste)

Hawaiian Springs (Hawaiian Springs Water)

This is the big one. Hawaiian Springs won the whole tournament, beating Starkey and Table Rock in the final at #9000. Along the way it beat Smeraldina, Fjord, and Meijer in #8336 (I said I would stock my fridge with it), beat Anheuser Busch in the round 3 bracket, and edged out Tru Alka for the final three because it tasted "a little bit better, a little cleaner, a little bit more pure." Then in #10000 I named it my favorite water of all time after reviewing thousands of waters. What a run.

About Hawaiian Springs (Hawaiian Springs Water)

Hawaiian Springs comes from the Kea'au aquifer at the base of Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii, where rain filters through 13,000 feet of lava rock. They have been bottling since 1995. It is naturally alkaline at about pH 7.7, high in calcium, magnesium, and silica, with a crisp, clean, slightly sweet taste. It is Hawaii's first and only natural artesian water, locally owned and operated by Native Hawaiians, and they even matched my $2,500 donation to Charity: Water for the #10000 milestone.

Starkey Spring Water

This was one of the great tournament runs. Starkey won five straight comparisons, including round 6 in the 5,000th episode, where he gave it ten thumbs up and had already predicted it might make the finals. In the #9000 final it finished runner-up to Hawaiian Springs, with Table Rock third.

About Starkey Spring Water

Starkey comes from an ancient single-source geothermal spring in Council, Idaho, rising from two miles deep through basalt fractures, protected for 11,000 years. It emerges at 132 degrees, is treated with UV light only, and has a pH of 9.6. It is sold at Whole Foods nationwide in glass and BPA-free PET.

Table Rock Spring

This was a tournament legend. Five straight wins, all the way to the final three, where it went out with what he called a tiny microscopic plasticky taste. Along the way it beat Rethink, a five-way field, Aqua 84, Fresh Market Electrolyte Enhanced, and QURE.

About Table Rock Spring

Table Rock is a regional North Carolina spring water company, based around Hildebran and Valdese, mostly a home and office delivery outfit. Aldi's PurAqua spring water was reportedly bottled by Table Rock in Morganton for a time.
