Winner: Starkey Spring Water.

What Jonathan decided

Starkey = winner (round three); 1907 = 2nd; Dasani/Trader Joe's tied 3rd; Voda = 5th

1907

He picked 1907 over Waiakea because "you can really taste the volcano" in the Waiakea, and that was not a compliment. In the next round Starkey edged it out, but second place in that crowd is nothing to be ashamed of.

About 1907

1907 New Zealand Artesian Water is named for 1907, the year commercial bottling began in Paeroa, New Zealand. It comes from about 680 feet underground with a naturally high pH near 8.0, and it is bottled in 100% recycled plastic.

Dasani

The big soda-water showdown went Dasani's way, though barely, with Jonathan saying it just tasted better than Aquafina. (The auto-captions hilariously rendered Dasani as "Sony.") Later rounds were less kind: Starkey and 1907 beat it, and the cheap Pur Aqua beat it too.

About Dasani

Dasani is Coca-Cola's purified-water brand, launched in the US in April 1999 and once America's number one national water brand. The source is municipal tap water purified by reverse osmosis, then enhanced with a proprietary mineral blend for taste. It also comes in flavored variants like lemon, strawberry, and grape, plus a sparkling line.

Starkey Spring Water

This was one of the great tournament runs. Starkey won five straight comparisons, including round 6 in the 5,000th episode, where he gave it ten thumbs up and had already predicted it might make the finals. In the #9000 final it finished runner-up to Hawaiian Springs, with Table Rock third.

About Starkey Spring Water

Starkey comes from an ancient single-source geothermal spring in Council, Idaho, rising from two miles deep through basalt fractures, protected for 11,000 years. It emerges at 132 degrees, is treated with UV light only, and has a pH of 9.6. It is sold at Whole Foods nationwide in glass and BPA-free PET.

Trader Joe's Spring (variant)

Starkey won round three. 1907 was second. Dasani and Trader Joe's tied for third, and Voda was fifth.

About Trader Joe's Spring (variant)

Bottled by CG Roxane, the Crystal Geyser company, at US spring sources. He once gave it one of only two thumbs-down of the day, saying "it tastes so bad."

Voda (variant)

Starkey won round three. 1907 was second, Dasani and Trader Joe's tied third, and the Voda collagen came in fifth.

About Voda (variant)

This is the Polish premium brand Voda Naturalna. Their collagen waters combine natural spring water with hydrolyzed collagen, vitamin C, and natural flavorings, about 10 to 16 calories a bottle.
