What Jonathan decided
Tourmaline = winner; Gerber worst; Spindrift "not really water"
Gerber Pure Water
This one ended up worst of the five. Tourmaline won the day, and I called Spindrift "not really water," which tells you about where Gerber landed.
About Gerber Pure Water
Gerber Pure is the infant water line from Gerber Products Company, founded in 1927 in Michigan and owned by Nestle since 2007. It is purified water with minerals added for taste, no added fluoride, meant for mixing baby formula and cereal. The water itself is bottled by Nestle's former North American water arm.
IGA Water
Tourmaline won this one, Gerber finished worst, and Spindrift was "not really water." IGA was just part of the pack.
About IGA Water
IGA is the Independent Grocers Alliance, founded in 1926 in Chicago, the world's largest voluntary supermarket network with thousands of independently owned stores. Some IGA stores carry a private-label IGA natural spring water, though specific sourcing details were not found. It appears to be a limited-distribution store label.
Real Water (Re2al)
In this five-water round, Tourmaline won and Gerber was the worst of the bunch. Real Water landed in the middle, while Spindrift got dismissed as not really water.
About Real Water (Re2al)
Same Nevada Real Water brand as above, the one later recalled by court order in 2021.
Spindrift Sparkling Water
In this five-water round, Tourmaline won and Gerber was the worst. Spindrift got written off as not really water.
About Spindrift Sparkling Water
Spindrift was founded in 2010 outside Boston as the first US sparkling water made with real squeezed fruit, never from concentrate, with no added sweeteners. It is now the number two flavored sparkling water behind LaCroix.
Tourmaline Spring Water
One of the most decorated waters in the whole tournament. It beat REAL, Spindrift, IGA, and Gerber, then beat Crystal2O "not even like that close," then beat Iceland and Le Bleu. Starkey finally ended the run in his 5000th episode, and both waters got ten thumbs up.
About Tourmaline Spring Water
Tourmaline comes from a natural spring in Maine that bubbles up through gemstone-lined vaults in an ancient mountain range. The company says it is the only one to bottle untreated natural spring water in Maine's history, with a gravity-fed plant 50 feet from the spring, no pumps, no boreholes, and Maine's premium grade designation. Its history as a "healing" water goes back to 1792. Small, family-owned, about a buck forty-nine a bottle, and a two-time bronze winner at the 2018 International Fine Waters Tasting Competition in Ecuador.
