What Jonathan decided
Glacier Isle = winner (round three); VOSS = 2nd; Diamond Creek = 3rd; Delish = 4th; +essentia = 5th
Delish Iceland Pure
Delish took its first round, with Virginia Artisan second and Crystal Lake third. In the tougher five-way field it landed fourth, behind Glacier Isle, VOSS, and Diamond Creek, with +essentia last.
About Delish Iceland Pure
Delish Iceland Pure is the private-label water of Walgreens, sold under its Good and Delish brand as Iceland-sourced spring water. The actual Icelandic source bottler is not publicly documented, and beyond nutrition databases there is little public information on the brand.
Diamond Creek Water
A respectable third in a strong field. Glacier Isle took the round, VOSS was second, and Diamond Creek beat out Delish and +essentia for third.
About Diamond Creek Water
Diamond Creek is an ionized 9.5 pH high-alkaline natural spring water, bottled at the source in the Appalachian region, electrically ionized with no added chemicals or minerals. It was acquired around 2020 by Good Hemp Inc., a hemp beverage company, and positions itself as an alkaline water that comes straight from a spring.
Essentia
Jonathan could taste the higher pH in this one, and he meant it as a compliment. It was a little bit tastier and thicker in a good way, while Fiji had a slight chemical taste. The later five-way round was tougher, with Glacier Isle, VOSS, Diamond Creek, and Delish all finishing ahead of it.
About Essentia
Essentia is the pioneer of ionized alkaline water, founded in 1998 in Bothell, Washington, using a proprietary ionization process for 9.5+ pH. Nestle USA acquired it in March 2021, and it is now part of Nestle's Premium Waters portfolio alongside Perrier and S.Pellegrino. It is the leading alkaline water brand in the US.
Glacier Isle
Glacier Isle had a real tournament run. It beat Ice Canyon head to head, then won a five-water round three over VOSS and others, before finally falling to Icelandic Glacial in round four. Not bad at all for a budget water.
About Glacier Isle
This appears to be a budget label water sold through Rite Aid around 2017, advertised at two for a dollar with loyalty points. The "GLACIER ISLE" trademark was filed in 2007 by Robert Baker and abandoned in 2009. It was listed as a naturally alkaline spring water, likely a regional or private-label product that has since vanished.
VOSS Still
Yes, he drank his own urine on camera and VOSS won. Moving on. It took second behind Glacier Isle in a five-way, beat its own flavored siblings, then went out first to PurAqua, which he said tasted the best and was the cheapest.
About VOSS Still
Same Norwegian luxury brand as above: the Vatnstrom aquifer, the Calvin Klein-designed bottle, very low minerals, sold in over 50 countries.
