What Jonathan decided

Aqua Pacific = winner (round three); VOD = 2nd; Ice Mountain = 3rd; JUST Water = 4th; evian = 5th

Aqua Pacific Artesian Mineral Water

This was a workhorse. It won a head-to-head with no metallic aftertaste, won a five-water round three, and got a thumbs up in a solo review for tasting like water with no plastic aftertaste. Its only complaint ever: peeling labels. Starkey finally stopped it in round four.

About Aqua Pacific Artesian Mineral Water

Aqua Pacific is a natural artesian mineral water from the Nadi Volcanic Highlands of Fiji, naturally alkaline at pH 8 to 8.4 and filtered through ancient volcanic rock. It won a Diamond Taste Award in 2018 and positions itself as a premium Fiji competitor to FIJI Water.

Evian

Jonathan knew the winner before he even sipped: evian over Propel, decisively. Propel tasted like salt and ocean water to him, with 7 percent of daily sodium per serving. In the tougher five-way round, though, evian landed last behind Aqua Pacific, VOD, Ice Mountain, and JUST Water.

About Evian

Evian is the natural mineral water from the French Alps, from a source in Evian-les-Bains discovered in 1789. Owned by Danone and exported to the US since 1978, it filters for more than 15 years through glacial rock, giving it a natural mineral profile with about 80 mg per liter of calcium and a balanced pH around 7.2.

Ice Mountain

In #3781 all three tasted identical, so the verdict came down to non-taste factors: Poland Spring was out over a 2003 false-advertising lawsuit, and Deer Park was out because the name reminded me of "a deer peeing into the water." Ice Mountain moved on by being the least objectionable. It later finished third in a five-water round won by Aqua Pacific.

About Ice Mountain

Ice Mountain is a natural spring water brand sold in the US Midwest, bottled in Michigan. It was formerly part of Nestle Waters North America, then sold in 2021 to One Rock Capital Partners and Metropoulos & Co., becoming part of BlueTriton Brands alongside Poland Spring, Arrowhead, Deer Park, Ozarka, and Zephyrhills. The Michigan bottling drew attention for Nestle paying very low extraction fees while generating large sales.

Just

JUST Water beat Boxed Water Is Better in the battle of the cartons, with Boxed eliminated over a slight glue and plastic taste. It later finished fourth in a five-water round won by Aqua Pacific.

About Just

JUST Water is a Certified B Corp founded in 2015 by Jaden Smith and Drew Fitzgerald as an anti-plastic water brand. The US water is spring water from a sustainably managed source in upstate New York, sold in Tetra Pak paper-based cartons made of 82% renewable resources, with a sugarcane plant-based cap. The company claims about 74% lower carbon emissions versus plastic bottles, and it is sold in over 10,000 North American retail locations.

Voda (variant)

Starkey won round three. 1907 was second, Dasani and Trader Joe's tied third, and the Voda collagen came in fifth.

About Voda (variant)

This is the Polish premium brand Voda Naturalna. Their collagen waters combine natural spring water with hydrolyzed collagen, vitamin C, and natural flavorings, about 10 to 16 calories a bottle.
