What Jonathan decided
Parent's Choice Infant Water wins by default ("unfair comparison"); Polar Diet Tonic Water "awful/bitter, no good"
Parent's Choice Infant Water
This one won #5590 by default, and I said so: it was an unfair comparison against Polar Diet Tonic Water, which was awful and bitter and no good. Then in #5625 it got eliminated on plastic taste (though Turkey Hill was the best 1-gallon jug I had tried). A default win and a plastic-taste loss.
About Parent's Choice Infant Water
Parent's Choice is Walmart's exclusive private brand for baby and infant products. The infant water is steam-distilled with minerals added for taste (magnesium sulfate, potassium bicarbonate, potassium chloride), marketed for baby formula and cereal, also sold as a 2.5-gallon purified infant water. Budget positioning, as you would expect from Walmart.
Polar Diet Tonic Water
This one never stood a chance. It went up against Parent's Choice Infant Water in #5590, and Jonathan called it an unfair comparison from the start. The tonic came off awful and bitter, and he wrote it off as no good.
About Polar Diet Tonic Water
Polar Beverages is a fourth-generation family company out of Worcester, Massachusetts, bottling since 1882 and now the largest independent soft-drink bottler in the country. Their diet tonic is a zero-calorie quinine mixer, not really a drinking water at all.
