What Jonathan decided

Ethos = winner; tonic = "most bitter water I've had"

Ethos

Ethos had a nice run. It crushed the Fever-Tree tonic, which Jonathan called the most bitter water he had ever had, then won a five-way round outright. The Fresh Market water finally ended the streak, but Ethos was liked even in defeat.

About Ethos

Ethos Water is the Starbucks social enterprise, founded in 2001 by Peter Thum with classmate Jonathan Greenblatt to fund clean-water programs, with Starbucks acquiring it in 2005 for $8 million. Five cents from every US bottle funds water, sanitation, and hygiene programs through the Ethos Water Fund of the Starbucks Foundation.

Fever-Tree Tonic Water

The tonic never stood a chance against a still spring water in Jonathan's world. He called it the most bitter water he had ever had, and Ethos moved on.

About Fever-Tree Tonic Water

It is a public company listed on the London Stock Exchange, sold in more than 80 countries, and was created to pair with premium spirits using all-natural ingredients and no artificial sweeteners.
